Embracing Change: How Our Property and Road Have Transformed Over the Years

Change is inevitable, and our little piece of heaven has certainly seen its fair share since we bought it in 2016. But it’s not just our property that has evolved—the road leading to it has undergone a drastic transformation as well.

A Road Once Hidden in Nature

When we first arrived, the road was narrow, tree-lined, and overgrown. It had a rustic charm, but navigating it wasn’t always easy. If another car approached from the opposite direction, squeezing to the side was a challenge. The dense trees created a tunnel-like effect, adding to the secluded feel, but also making visibility and safety a concern.

A New Look and a Fresh Perspective

Over the past couple of years, our township took on the task of widening the road and clearing back the overgrowth. At first, the changes were bittersweet. Seeing the hills cut down and natural habitats altered felt like a loss of the area’s original character. However, as time has passed, I’ve come to appreciate the improvements. The road is now safer, easier to navigate, and offers better visibility when pulling out of our driveway. Plus, with fewer trees near the power lines, we experience fewer outages—a definite bonus!

Nature Still Thrives

Despite the changes, nature continues to flourish around us. Walking to the front of our property, we still catch glimpses of deer gracefully crossing the road or wild turkeys wandering through. The landscape is evolving, but its beauty remains intact.

Embracing Transformation

Just like our surroundings, we, too, are transforming. Change can be difficult, but it often brings unexpected benefits. As we watch our property and community shift, we’re learning to embrace the journey—finding beauty in both the old and the new.
