There’s something about sunny warm days and crisp autumn air, the crunch of fallen leaves, and the hum of an ATV that makes a day on the trails feel like pure Michigan magic. When we hit the backwoods trails we are rewarded with breathtaking views, quiet moments with nature, and a few sun-loving turtles along the way.

Trail Highlights: Nature’s Hidden Gems

Our rides take us through a winding trail system showcasing the best of Michigan’s wild beauty. One of our first stops was along the Muskegon River, where we were lucky enough to spot a snapping turtle lounging at the water’s edge—completely unbothered by our presence.

Just off the main trail, we came across a small flowing stream, framed by fallen trees that made for a picture-perfect moment. The sound of the water trickling through the woods was the kind of peaceful you only find off-grid.

The crown jewel of this ride was Haskell Lake, where the fall colors were Just starting to appear. Bright golds, deep reds, and fiery oranges reflected off the water like a painting brought to life. It’s the kind of view that makes you want to sit still and soak it all in—if only the trail didn’t keep calling us forward.

Quiet Waters & Sunbathing Turtles

Along the route, we stumbled upon another quiet body of water with a fallen tree reaching out into the pond. Several turtles had claimed it as their sunny hangout spot, basking in the afternoon warmth. Wildlife encounters like this are what make these rides unforgettable.

The Marsh and Dam Overlook

Another peaceful stop was a pond and marsh area with a small dam. We took in the view from a footbridge, looking down over the water—watching how the terrain shaped the flow of nature. This serene overlook was a reminder of how even the smallest ecosystems are full of life and movement.

Meet the Machine: Our Side-by-Side

None of this would’ve been possible without our trusty Polaris RZR 900 side-by-side ATV. We snapped a shot from the day we brought it home—still shiny, full of potential, and already earning its keep on the trail.
